HC Deb 29 May 1970 vol 801 c635W
Mr. Kenneth Baker

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many men and women, respectively, will be of retirement age in 1980; and what proportion of them is already retired.

Mr. Crossman:

According to the latest projections it is expected that there will be 3.09 million men and 6.32 million women of retirement age in Great Britain in 1980. It is estimated that about half of these men and two-thirds of these women will then have been in retirement for 10 or more years.
