HC Deb 29 May 1970 vol 801 cc637-8W
Mr. Kenneth Baker

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what change there has been in the real value of pensions since June, 1965.

Mr. Ennals:

In real terms, the retirement pension payable in April, 1970, the the latest date for which figures are avail- able, was 1.3 per cent. higher than that payable in June, 1965. I would remind the hon. Member that shortly before June, 1965 we made the largest ever increase in retirement pensions, and that pensions now are worth 15 per cent. more in real terms than when we took office in October, 1964.
