asked the Secretary of State for Employment and Productivity if she will make a further statement about the inquiry into the safety and health of employed persons.

I am glad to inform the House that Lord Robens has agreed to serve as chairman of the inquiry and that the members will be:

  • Mr. G. H. Beeby.
  • Miss Mervyn Pike, M.P.
  • Mr. S. A. Robinson.
  • Miss Anne Shaw.
  • Sir Brian Windeyer, F.R.C.P., F.R.C.S.
  • Professor J. C. Wood, LL.M.

To consider whether any further steps are required to safeguard members of the public from hazards, other than general environmental pollution, arising in connection with activities in industrial and commercial premises and construction sites; and To make recommendations.
