HC Deb 29 May 1970 vol 801 c608W
Mr. Peter M. Jackson

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government whether, in view of the Government's intention to control the excessive pollution of the environment, he will take steps to strengthen the Alkali Inspectorate.

Mr. Greenwood:

The strength of the Alkali Inspectorate is related to the number of processes registered under the Alkali etc. Works Regulation Act, 1906. It is adequate for present needs but as the registration of further processes is proposed, a resultant increase in the inspectorate may also be required.
