HC Deb 29 May 1970 vol 801 c652W
Mr. Jopling

asked the Minister of Transport what is the reason for the failure to build the bridge carrying the M6 motorway across the A65 road at Crooklands in a satisfactory way; what will be the extra costs involved; and whether he will make a statement.

Mr. Bob Brown:

The bridge was built in a satisfactory way but some settlement occurred during construction owing to unforeseen sub-soil conditions. The bridge is being underpinned at a cost of £30,000 to avoid the risk of any further settlement.
