§ Mr. Benn:Expenditure on the authority's research and development programmes is analysed in the authority's annual reports. The cumulative costs of the major reactor development programmes up to 31st March. 1970 are approximately as follows:

Final figures will be given in the annual report for 1969–70. Expenditure on other work in support of power reactors and their fuel, on applied nuclear and underlying research work is not broken down into separate programmes. Particulars of defence research cannot be given.
