HC Deb 28 May 1970 vol 801 c485W
Mr. Edward M. Taylor

asked the Prime Minister whether he will call a meeting of the National Economic Development Council specifically to discuss price rises since the beginning of this year.

The Prime Minister:

Productivity, prices and incomes policy is regularly discussed by the N.E.D.C.

Mr. Kenneth Baker

asked the Prime Minister how many letters he has received from members of the public, since the beginning of the year, on the subject of rising prices; and whether he will give a general indication of the nature of the replies he has sent.

The Prime Minister:

About 350 such letters have been received since the beginning of the year. The replies have explained the Government's policy on the lines on which it has been explained by Government spokesmen in the House and have referred to the action which the Government have taken and are continuing to take to prevent unjustifiable increases in prices.
