HC Deb 28 May 1970 vol 801 c556W
Mr. Dempsey

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what is the estimated cost and Government grant, respectively, towards the piping and infilling of the present stretch of the Monkland Canal, Coatbridge; what area this project covers; and when the work will be completed.

Mr. Ross:

One thousand yards of the canal is at present being piped and in-filled at an estimated cost of about £460,000. Grant will be payable at the rate of 90 per cent. of the approved net cost. I expect the work to be completed by September, 1971.
