HC Deb 28 May 1970 vol 801 c549W
Mr. Hector Hughes

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will state to the last convenient date the capital expenditure on law and order including separately police and prisons in Scotland during each of the last five years and indicate how much of this related to law and order in the city of Aberdeen.

Mr. Ross:

I have been asked to reply. The intimated capital expenditure was as follows:

Scotland Prisons Police Authorities Fire Authorities
£m. £m. £m.
1968–69 1.085 1.438 1.017
1967–68 0.811 1.549 1.035
1966–67 0.918 1.227 0.824
1965–66 0.872 1.118 0.895
1964–65 0.769 0.983 0.802

Over the five years, in the city of Aberdeen capital expenditure on prisons was approximately £54,000 and on police approximately £220,000. Separate figures are not readily available for the city for fire services.
