§ Mr. Wallasked the Minister of Overseas Development what conditions Her Majesty's Government require to be fulfilled before aid to Lesotho for humanitarian purposes only can be restored.
§ Mrs. Hart:When normal relations have been restored between the two Governments, and this is a matter for my right hon. Friend the Foreign and Commonwealth Secretary, I will consider the provision of such aid to Lesotho as may be necessary on humanitarian grounds.
§ Mr. Wallasked the Minister of Overseas Development if, in view of the drought conditions in Lesotho, she will take steps to restore British aid before there is widespread starvation.
§ Mrs. Hart:I am aware of, and am concerned about, the drought which is causing suffering to the people of Lesotho. When normal relations have been resumed, I will consider the provision of such aid as may be required to help alleviate the situation.
