Mr. Ridley

asked the President of the Board of Trade how much has been expended and how much committed, to date, in grants to aid the improvement or building of hotels.

Mrs. Gwyneth Dunwoody:

Under the Development of Tourism Act, 1969 the administration of the scheme of hotel assistance is the responsibility of the Tourist Boards. The boards are required by the Act to make annual reports on their activities, and the reports will be laid before the House.

asked the President of the Board of Trade if he will make a statement about the progress of the official scheme for providing loans for hotel development.
