HC Deb 28 May 1970 vol 801 cc548-9W
Mr. Hazell

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what arrangements he has made to enable persons still in possession of half-crowns to obtain value for them.

Mr. William Rodgers:

At present half-crowns are still being accepted by banks and post offices who will continue to accept them until 30th June. After that date half-crowns will be accepted at face value by the oRyal Mint in amounts of not less than £1, and for the remainder of 1970 the Royal Mint will meet the cost of postage.
