Mr. Tilney

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government what guidance and financial assistance he is now giving to local authorities to improve their environment.

Mr. Greenwood:

A large proportion of the Department's work involves giving local authorities guidance or financial assistance, or both, for these purposes.

If the hon. Member has in mind any special aspects of the problem of improving the environment I will gladly provide the relevant information.
