HC Deb 28 May 1970 vol 801 cc550-1W
Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications whether the ruling that holders of full-time appointments as statutory board and corporation chairmen have to obtain permission to take and maintain outside employment on the basis that fees received are paid over to the board concerned, applies to the Chairman of the British Broadcasting Corporation.

Mr. Stonehouse:

No. The Chairman of the B.B.C. is required to make broadcasting his first though not his only concern. The Chairmanship of the B.B.C. is not a full-time appointment.
