HC Deb 26 May 1970 vol 801 cc458-9W
Mr. Newens

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is the amount by which public service pensions have been increased since 1964.

Mr. Shore:

I have been asked to reply.

Public service pensions have been increased under the Pensions (Increase) Acts 1965 and 1969 by amounts which varied according to when the pension began. Under the 1965 Act pensions which began not later than 1st April 1964 were increased by amounts ranging from 2 per cent. for those which began after 1st April, 1963, to 16 per cent. for those which began not later than 1st April, 1957. Under the 1969 Act pensions which began not later than 1st July, 1967, were increased by amounts ranging from 2 per cent. for those which began after 1st July, 1966, to 18 per cent. for those which began not later than 1st July, 1955.
