Mr. Speed

asked the Secretary of State for Employment and Productivity how many intentions of price increases were notified to her in the week beginning 4th May, 1970; and how many price increases were approved during that week.

Mr. Dell:

None. But under the early warning arrangements 17 notifications were received by production departments during week commencing 4th May. A total of 11 applications were accepted during the same period.

Mr. Cordle

asked the Secretary of State for Employment and Productivity by how much prices increased in each of the first and second six-month periods in 1965, 1966, 1967, 1968 and 1969.

The figures asked for are being calculated, and I shall be writing to the hon. Member as soon as possible.
