Dr. Bennett

asked the Secretary of State for Defence what were the numbers of men and apprentices, respectively, employed at Portsmouth Dockyard on 1st October, 1964, 1st October, 1968, and 1st April, 1970.

The following table shows the numbers of male industrials and apprentices serving in the general manager's department, H.M. Dockyard, Portsmouth, on the dates given:

N.B. In July, 1967, 530 chargemen and others became non-industrials.
