HC Deb 15 May 1970 vol 801 cc438-9W
Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he is aware that recently the Greater London Council's Enforcement Officer of Roads in North London found that out of 370 vehicles parked in these roads and streets 54 did not carry a current road fund licence; and what is the loss to the Revenue at the latest convenient stated date represented by 15 per cent. non-payment of road fund licences.

Mr. Taverne:

Enforcement is a matter for the police and the local taxation authorities. I do not accept that the general level of evasion is as high as 15 per cent.
