HC Deb 15 May 1970 vol 801 cc444-5W
Mr. Tudor Watkins

asked the Secretary of State for Wales with whom the Development Commissioners are having discussions in Wales as to the future role of rural community councils in the Principality; and whether any report will be issued after consultations have been concluded.

Mr. George Thomas:

An independent report has been prepared for the Development Commissioners as part of their current review of the work of the Rural Community Councils in England and Wales. Consultations are taking place with my Department and the Council of Social Service for Wales and Monmouthshire, as well as with the National Council of Social Service and the 12 Rural Community Councils in Wales. As a part of these consultations, a paper on the main findings of the report will shortly be circulated by the Development Commission to the organisations concerned.
