HC Deb 15 May 1970 vol 801 c429W
Mr. Ashton

asked the Minister of Technology when he will announce a starting date for the commencement of the second coal-fired power station at Drax, Yorkshire.

Mr. Alan Williams:

The Central Electricity Generating Board's current power station plan provides for the completion of the second half of the coal-fired station at Drax. But the actual dates when stations—after the station at Heysham for which tenders have been received—will be put in hand must remain for determination later in the light of forecast requirements for future generating capacity. I am therefore unable to give any firm dates for the construction of the Isle of Grain, Sizewell B, and Drax II, the remaining three of the four stations referred to in my right hon. Friend's statement in the House on 29th October.—[Vol. 790, c. 303.]
