Mr. Pavitt

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is his estimate of the increase in cost to the National Health Service drug bill of the full use of L-Dopa for treating Parkinson's Disease.

Mr. Crossman:

Estimated expenditure in the current financial year is £2 million. The cost is expected to rise to about £3 million a year when supplies of L-Dopa are fully available.
