HC Deb 15 May 1970 vol 801 cc408-9W
Mr. Barnett

asked the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications if he will make a statement on the type of old people's accommodation in which pensioners are eligible for the concession to obtain a television licence for one shilling; and if it includes old people's flatlets or bungalows where there is a resident warden.

Mr. Stonehouse:

The old persons' home licence, at a charge of ls. per eligible resident, is available to retired people of pensionable age living in old persons' homes as defined in Regulation 2 of the Wireless Telegraphy (Broadcast Licence Charges and Exemption), Regulations 1970 (S.I. 1970 No. 548). Old people's flatlets and bungalows provided by or in conjunction with local authorities under Part V of the Housing Act, 1957 where there are some communal facilities, such as a resident warden, are eligible.
