HC Deb 15 May 1970 vol 801 cc372-3W
Mr. Chichester-Clark

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what was the estimated loss due to Marek's Disease in 1969–70 in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Mr. Cledwyn Hughes:

Marek's disease is not notifiable, and records of losses due to the disease are not kept by my Department. It is, however, estimated that the financial loss to the industry in Great Britain may amount to about £10 million a year. A similar estimate is not available for Northern Ireland.
