§ Mr. Lomasasked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many nurses are employed at the hospitals in Huddersfield; how many of these are from Commonwealth countries and Ireland, respectively; and if he will indicate the country of origin in each case.
§ Mr. Crossman:The information requested is tabulated below:
complaints have been made to the authorities by parents concerning self-inflicted injuries by their children; and what action he proposes in the case reported to the hospital and to his department by the hon. Member for Bassetlaw on 21st April.
§ Mr. Crossman:Nineteen children are waiting for admission; most of these have had periods of short-term in-patient 429W care or have been day patients. Children admitted during the year ending 31st March, 1970, had waited on average about 20 months. The adequacy of the number of children's beds will be reconsidered when I have completed my review of policy for services for the mentally handicapped. The children's wards are not understaffed. There is no record of any complaints by parents having been made to the hospital concerning self-inflicted injuries by children. I have written to my hon. Friend about the individual case.
