HC Deb 15 May 1970 vol 801 cc432-3W
Mr. Maxwell-Hyslop

asked the Minister of Transport what report he has received from the Road Research Laboratory, following the Parliamentary Question by the hon. Member for Tiverton on 11th November, 1966, on the extent to which rectangular headlamps promote dazzle, and whether they should be banned under the Construction and Use of Vehicles Regulations.

Mr. Bob Brown:

Tests undertaken in 1967 showed that there was slightly more glare from the types of rectangular headlamps than from round headlamps. Rectangular lamps have since been modified so as to reduce glare, and no fresh regulation appears to be required.
