HC Deb 15 May 1970 vol 801 c443W
Sir B. Rhys Williams

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what estimate he has made of the net cost to the Exchequer in 1970–71 of increasing family allowances to 25s. per week for all children including the first and making them free of tax.

Mr. Taverne:

About £765 million for Great Britain for the full year, assuming that the clawback was abolished simultaneously but the child tax allowances remained unchanged.
