HC Deb 15 May 1970 vol 801 c374W
Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Minister for the Civil Service whether he will take steps to stop payment of salary increases of between 20 per cent. and 35 per cent. to chairmen of public boards.

Mr. Shore:

The salary increases announced by the Government on 26th March for chairmen and members of nationalised boards were in the range 11–17 per cent. for the chairmen of the main boards. These increases were in accordance with the recommendations of the National Board for Prices and Incomes in Report No. 107 for the second stage, the first having been accepted and implemented last year.
