Mr. Lipton

asked the Secretary of State for Local Government and Regional Planning if he will make a further statement about the inquiry into the proposed new Government offices in Whitehall.

Mr. Crosland:

I am glad to be able to tell the House that Mr. Harold Willis, Q.C., has accepted an invitation to conduct the inquiry. The terms of reference were announced in the reply I gave my hon. Friend the Member for Hornchurch (Mr. Alan Lee Williams) on 12th March.

The inquiry will open in the Assembly Hall, Church House, Westminster, on Monday, 13th July, and any representations should be sent to the Secretary of the Whitehall Inquiry, Room 703, Queen Anne's Mansions, Queen Anne's Gate, S.W.1, by 19th June.

Copies of an explanatory memorandum about the proposals can be obtained from the Ministry of Public Building and Works, Elizabeth House, 39 York Road, S.E.1.—[Vol. 797, c. 381.]
