asked the Minister of Public Building and Works how many men were unemployed in the construction industry at the latest convenient date; and how many of them were in the Merseyside area.

Mr. John Silkin:

On 13th April, 1970 there were 111,752 unemployed men, aged 18 and over, in the construction industry in Great Britain. Of these, 6,520 were in the Merseyside area.
