HC Deb 13 May 1970 vol 801 c275W
32. Mr. John Wells

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he is aware that the Eire Government banned the import of raw tomatoes from 25th April; and what representations he has made about this breach of Article 6 of the Anglo-Irish Free Trade Agreement.

Mr. Hoy:

The import of United Kingdom tomatoes into the Republic of Ireland is not banned. During the Republic's import control period which began this year on 25th April, 1,000 tons may be imported. This limitation is not in breach of the Agreements relating to the Anglo-Irish Free Trade Area.
