Mr. Kenyon

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will consider withholding subsidy from any farmer who burns his straw at harvest, instead of gathering and storing it, in view of the fact that straw is now priced at £ 10 per ton.

Mr. Mackie:

No. This is a matter for individual farmers and it would not be appropriate for the Government to intervene.
