HC Deb 13 May 1970 vol 801 c296W
84. Mr. David Howell

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will publish the table used by his Department in calculating the effects of assistance to investment showing the cost of initial allowances by industry group according to the minimum list headings of the Standard Industrial Classification in 1969–70; and what he estimates the cost will be in 1970–71 and 1971–72.

Mr. Taverne:

The information is not available in the detail requested. The estimated gross relief afforded by all initial allowances due on expenditure in the years 1969, 1970 and 1971 is £ 135 million, £ 155 million and £ 160 million respectively. These estimates take no account of the reduction in subsequent writing down allowances.
