HC Deb 12 May 1970 vol 801 c254W
41. Mr. Arthur Jones

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government what provision he intends to make for expenditure on housing in priority areas under the Local Authority (Social Need) Act.

Mr. Freeson:

Priority areas in the urban aid programme in almost all cases are contained within housing priority areas in which no limit is placed on building programmes for subsidy purposes. A few grants have been made under the Local Government Grants (Social Need) Act, 1969, for the purchase of properties for the temporary accommodation of homeless families. Grants for environmental improvement under the Housing Act, 1969, are available in any general improvement areas declared.
