HC Deb 12 May 1970 vol 801 cc267-8W
Sir H. Legge-Bourke

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether he will favourably re-examine the disparately low amount of money allowed for overseas travel and study to medical-staff applicants from the East Anglian Regional Hospital Board's area, in view of recent relaxations of currency restric- tions for private and business purposes, and the fact that the allocation in the board's area for the previous year, which was taken as the basis for calculating the limit for the current year, was one of the lowest on record.

Mr. Grossman:

I am aware that the restriction of expenditure on travel involving foreign currency is causing some difficulty to Regional Hospital Boards generally. I am calling for facts and figures so that I can consider the matter further.
