HC Deb 12 May 1970 vol 801 c262W
Sir C. Taylor

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether his regulations require traders to specify the country of origin and price of bacon in retail shops.

Mr. Hoy:

My right hon. Friend has made no regulations requiring either the country of origin or the price of bacon in retail shops to be specified. But the Merchandise Marks (Imported Goods) No. 3 Order, 1934, requires imported sides and joints of bacon to be marked with an indication of origin, namely " Empire ", " foreign ", or a definite indication of the country in which the bacon was manufactured or produced.
