HC Deb 11 May 1970 vol 801 c215W
71. Mr. Edward Lyons

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether he is satisfied with the provision of medical and pharmaceutical facilities in the Listerhills area of Bradford; and if he will make a statement.

Dr. John Dunwoody:

I understand the area is being redeveloped. The movement away of some of the population has in turn caused practitioners to go elsewhere. Patients remaining in the area have been accepted on the lists of nearby doctors, and the Bradford Executive Council will help anyone who has difficulty in getting accepted. The nearest pharmacy is about half a mile from the centre of the area and there are several pharmacies in the centre of the city about a mile away. Neither my right hon. Friend nor the Executive Council has power to direct practitioners where they should practise.
