HC Deb 11 May 1970 vol 801 cc217-8W
Mr. Brooks

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether he will discuss with the life insurance companies the question of lower premiums being charged to non-smokers, with a view to legislation.

Mr. Crossman:

Since smoking increases the likelihood of death at all ages I will certainly take up my hon. Friend's suggestion of discussions with life insurance companies, but I doubt if this would be a suitable subject for legislation.
