§ Mr. Frank Allaunasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government what amount was made available by building societies to house builders in the last period of 12 months for which figures are available.
§ Mr. Freeson:£7.3 million was advanced in 1968 by Building Societies to speculative housebuilders and property developers on houses being built for sale. A much larger sum, the amount of which is not known, was advanced to prospective owner-occupiers of houses under construction, and used to finance the building operation.
