asked the Secretary of State for Employment and Productivity how many persons were registered as unemployed at Stornoway at the most recent count, who had been unemployed for over three and over six months, respectively; and what percentage each group represents of the total local unemployed at that date.

Mr. Dell:

On 13th April a total of 1,032 persons were registered as unemployed at Stornoway Employment Exchange including 663 who had been registered for more than 3 months and 458 who had been registered for more than 6 months. These represented 61.3 per cent. and 44.4 per cent. of the total register, respectively.
