Mr. Sheldon

asked the Minister for the Civil Service which Departments have now been asked to produce schemes for the development of specialisation.

Mr. Shore:

My hon. Friend no doubt has in mind the development of specialisation among those staffs whom the Fulton Committee referred to as " administrators ". All Departments employing 50 or more such staff have been asked to make proposals for the development of greater specialisation in the context of planned career development schemes. Extensive studies are continuing.
