§ Mr. J. H. Osbornasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what guidance he will give to the University Grants Committee and research councils for which he is responsible, about the level of research grants to post-graduate research students.
§ Mr. Fowler:The level of these grants is decided after consultation with the research councils, and is related to the amount of the grant for undergraduates which as my right hon. Friend announced yesterday will be increased from 1st September, 1970. The University Grants Committee is not involved.
