asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what is the advertising appropriation for his Department's present advertising campaign to recruit mathematics teachers.

Miss Bacon:

The Department has made a total provision for advertising during the financial year 1970–71 totalling £36,000. No specific proposals have been formulated at this stage in respect of a campaign to recruit mathematics teachers.
