HC Deb 07 May 1970 vol 801 cc163-4W
50. Mr. Henig

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will make a statement about the future Government financial support for the city of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra.

Miss Jennie Lee:

The Arts Council has offered a grant of £90,000 for 1970–71; this is £3,000 more than in 1969–70. The council hopes that the setting up of the Midlands Authorities Orchestral Association will lead to the provision of the further funds required.
