HC Deb 06 May 1970 vol 801 c130W
67. Mr. James Davidson

asked the President of the Board of Trade if, in view of the import restrictions currently imposed by the Spanish Government which have resulted in an 81 per cent. reduction in Scotch whisky exports to Spain in the first quarter of 1970 by comparison with the first quarter of 1969, he will take steps to place similar restrictions on the import of Spanish wines and on the purchase of Spanish currency by British tourists.

Mrs. Gwyneth Dunwoody:

No. Such action would be inconsistent with our international obligations and detrimental to our export trade.
