HC Deb 06 May 1970 vol 801 cc119-20W
56. Sir Knox Cunningham

asked the Secretary of State for Defence how many types of Press advertisements for recruiting to the Armed Forces of the Crown do not use the Union Jack; and in what areas such advertisements are circulated.

Mr. Hattersley:

The Union Jack is not used in any Armed Forces recruiting ad- vertising except that for Regular Army adult soldiers mainly appearing in national newspapers. Army, Navy and R.A.F. advertisements without the Union Jack circulate throughout the United Kingdom.
