45. Mr. Henry Clark

asked the Secretary of State for Defence what assistance the Army has given to the civil authorities in Northern Ireland in the guarding of dynamite and other explosives in store and in transit.

Mr. Richard:

Assistance has been given by the Army to the civil authorities in Northern Ireland in the form of security checks on the storage of explosives at quarries; and on one occasion an escort was provided for ammunition in transit.
