HC Deb 06 May 1970 vol 801 c113W
30. Mr. Dempsey

asked the Secretary of State for Defence if, in view of the long period of desertion from Her Majesty's Forces by a number of individuals, he will propose an amnesty; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Hattersley:

No. However, in the case of confessed deserters, the Service authorities have discretion, in appropriate circumstances to discharge without trial.
