§ Mr. Kenneth Bakerasked the Minister of Technology what estimate he has made of the additional investment that will occur in the textile industry in the years 1970–71 and 1971–72 as a result of allowing 25 per cent. depreciation per annum.
§ Dr. Ernest A. Davies:The increase in the depreciation allowance will be helpful to the industry; a proposal for such a change was made in the report of the Textile Council 1969. The effect on investment is likely to be positive though shall and unquantifiable.
