HC Deb 05 May 1970 vol 801 cc65-6W
43. Mr. Molloy

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government what proposals he has received from outer London boroughs, with relatively little or no local demand, for them to build to rehouse families from overcrowded inner London boroughs; and if he will make a statement.

49. Mr. Alan Lee Williams

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government what proposals he has received from the Greater London Council for building homes in outer London boroughs to receive families from inner London where large areas need clearance, redevelopment, improvements and reduction in congestion and overcrowding; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Freeson:

No proposals have been received specifically for this purpose; the inner London boroughs nominate tenants to a pool of housing maintained by the G.L.C. throughout London in which some 6,700 tenancies are available for letting this year, 750 contributed by the outer borough councils and the remainder by the G.L.C. A much larger contribution from outer London to the needs of inner London families will be needed.
