asked the Secretary of State for Social Services when the long-term additional payment was introduced for people on supplementary benefit who are over pensionable age and w certain other long-term beneficiaries; what this amount is per week; how many times it has been increased since it was introduced; if he will now revise this payment; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. O'Malley:

The long-term addition was introduced at the level of 9s. a week in November 1966 at the start of the supplementary benefits scheme and was increased to its present level of 10s. in October 1968.
